That explains it!

Looking back on my past several attempts to restart blogging, you probably notice that there is a recurring theme.  I'm exhausted.  I don't feel well. I'm tired. Yadda yadda yadda.  Now we know why!

Last Wednesday, I had a TIA, or a small stroke. I woke up with the room spinning around me.  It took several minutes before I was able to wobble out of bed.  A couple of hours later, I took a shower.  I was very dizzy coming out of that, and my heart was racing.  I felt very ill.  I stumbled into my bedroom, and apparently I blanked out momentarily, because the next thing I knew, I was on the floor.

Anybody who knows me will tell you that I don't do doctors.  I don't like them, I don't like being told that I'm sick. And heaven forbid, do NOT tell me I have to go to the hospital!  Despite this, I knew I was in trouble, so I called my doctor who told me to get to the ER as soon as I could, with somebody else driving.  For a few moments, i actually considered asking Emily to take me, but I gained control of my senses and waited for Darren to get home.

Once there, they put me through a litany of tests.  On Thursday, I slept almost the entire day.  I honestly can't tell you anything about Thursday, except snippets; going into an MRI, and the neurologist visiting me that evening.  He ran a bunch of tests on me, then said, "It appears you've had a small stroke."  He reviewed my MRI and MRA again, and that was the final conclusion.

My left side of my face and my left arm are numb.  If I don't pay attention, I drool a bit out of my mouth.  I'm very dizzy, although that's improving a bit if I don't overdo things.  I am on aspirin therapy, and I do PT a few times a day.

Today, I'm back to work.  I notice I'm not really on top of things like I usually am, but I'm managing.  Sometimes words don't come to me as quickly as I'm used to them being there.  And, I'm exhausted.  At least I know why now!

Wednesday, I go in for an overnight sleep study.  I'm a bit nervous about that.  It should be interesting, especially after my typical 3 am coughing jags.
